The new required standards will be equivalent to the European IEC 61960 (06-2011): “Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes – Secondary lithium cells and batteries for portable applications”, and the IEC 62133 (2012): “Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes – Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells, and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications”. Please note that the new regulation considers a transition period where applicants may use test reports from overseas labs that have been issued 2 years prior to the implementation of the new DoC requirement (October 1, 2016).
