VIETNAM: MIC Proposes 7 Key Changes in Circular Regulation Draft

On February 2, 2017, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) proposed changes to replace the current Circular regulation, 03/2012/TT-BTTTT. If the draft is approved by the Ministry of Police and Ministry of Defense of Vietnam, it will come with 7 key changes that expect to be issued by April 2017.

These 7 key changes include:

1) Output power limit for WLAN products operating in 2400 – 2483.5 MHz, 5150 – 5250 MHz and 5250 – 5350 MHz is increased from 100 mW to 200 mW

2) From December 31st, 2017, the RFID band of 920-925 MHz will be changed to 918-923 MHz

3) Wireless charging technology is allowed to use frequency bands 9 – 148.5 kHz, 326.5 kHz, 340 kHz, and 6.765 – 6.795 MHz

4) Wireless phone is no longer to use frequency bands 924-925 MHz

5) New band of 4200-4800 MHz is allocated to ultra-wide band devices

6) New bands are allocated to frequency alerting and detecting devices

7) New bands are allocated to wireless audio devices for hearing assistance

It is worth noting that existing certificates for RFID devices issued on the band 920-925MHz will need to be updated before December 31, 2017.
