On September 13, 2024, MIC issued Circular No. 10/2024/TT-BTTTT suspending the implementation of the 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency planning
In April 2024, MIC issued Circular No. 03/2024/TT-BTTTT and Circular No. 04/2024/TT-BTTTT stipulating that from September 16, 2024, GSM mobile networks in the 1710-1785 MHz, 1805-1880 MHz, 880-915 MHz and 925-960 MHz bands will stop providing services to 2G-Only devices. Exceptions are applied to 2G-Only devices for M2M or in special offshore areas.
With Circular No. 10/2024/TT-BTTTT, the above deadline of September 16, 2024 has been extended by one month, to October 15, 2024.
MIC explained that this decision does not change the strategic goal of 2G network shutdown, but only aims to handle emergency situations to ensure communication to prevent natural disasters.
