On July 08, 2024, MIC conducted a consultation on the draft technical regulation on SAR for hand-held and body-worn wireless communication devices (QCVN 134:2024/BTTTT)
QCVN 134:2024/BTTTT will apply to radio equipment having a power greater than 20 mW and operated within a distance of less than 200mm from the body (HS code 8517.11.00, 8517.13.00, 8517.14.00, 8471.30.20, 8471.30.90), these devices are listed in Circular 02/2024/TT-BTTTT list of products that must be TA and Declaration of Conformity (See detailed analysis of Circular 02/2024/TT-BTTTT at https://regulatory.entirety.biz/41614)
SAR limits in the frequency range from 30 MHz to 6 GHz are as follows:
- 2 W/kg over any 10 g of tissue (for head and trunk)
- 4 W/kg over any 10 g of tissue (for limbs)
QCVN 134:2024/BTTTT is expected to take effect from July 1, 2025 (synchronized in terms of effective date with the Circular on list of products that must be TA and Declaration of Conformity that MIC issues annually)
Compared to the previous draft technical regulation published by MIC (analyzed here), this draft has a much broader scope of applicable devices (in addition to mobile phones, there are also tablets, DECT, laptops).
