Venezuela participated in the Latin American IPv6 Forum held in Lima, Peru, and presented an overview of the Internet Protocol version development (IPv6) in the country.
The Venezuelan Gregorio Manzano, from the Research Centers Academic Network and National Universities (Reacciun) expelained about the Community Initiative for IPv6 in Venezuela, highlighting the actions taken by different organizations, institutions, groups and companies to ensure the IPv6 deployment in the country.
In the event, organized by LACNIC, the importance of the IPv6 advancement was explained as an alternative to global depletion of the currently used protocol addresses known as IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4). An IP (Internet Protocol) is a communication protocol whose function is to locate the connected equipment through a call that the user makes each time that is looking for some information on the network. When naming a website, it responds to an IP address whose name is unintelligible to the common user.
Latin American and Caribbean Internet Address Registry’s Director (LACNIC), Oscar Robles, stated that Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru are the Latin American countries most ready to implement the new version of Internet Protocol (IPv6).
