Entirety reports on December 12, 2018, The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) did a review of rules on December 7th for service providers to post on their public websites information regarding Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) of their offered devices. It’s also mandatory that service providers maintain in their websites all information of previously offered models with the purpose that the final consumer can access to data. Additionally, the FCC changes the requirement to fulfill the Form 655 annually to an annual certification stating for the compliance of hearing aid compatibility rules.
To remark the following
- Each service provider must offer a minimum of devices to their customer with a different level of functionality (features, prices, capabilities)
- Service providers or manufacturers with two or fewer devices offered are exempted to this regulation.
- The manufacturer/service provider must public in their websites all information about levels of functionality and ratings. Service providers can link to manufacturer’s website the device information.
- The service provider/manufacturer must follow specific conditions for the certification that can be founding the Regulation document.
- The effective date for Regulation is January 7th, 2019.
