The FCC recently announced a deadline extension for the recognition and accreditation of the laboratories that could perform valid compliance tests. Currently, the FCC is conducting a reorganization on its process to accredit test laboratories, that process includes the unification of all the requirements under one clear normative. This new process implies that laboratories working under rule section 2.948 must now complete all the new requirements. The first deadline given by the FCC to comply with the normative was July, 13th 2016, however, after numerous petitions from different organizations to extend the date, the new deadline will be July 13, 2017. Until that date, 2.948 – listed laboratories would continue issuing valid certificates. In addition, accrediting bodies (ABs) would only work with laboratories placed in the same country they are located in.
