On November 2, 2017, The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) published a new rule for the authorization of radio frequency equipment. According to the FCC, in an act to simplify and streamline certain procedures, they have decided to remove the import declaration FCC form 740 from needing to be filed under certain circumstances.
Some key changes to take into account:
Part 1: Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) now combines two self-approval processes into one procedure and making the party responsible for compliance of the RF device to ensure it complies with technical standards.
Part 12: According to the E-Labeling Act, it allows radio frequency devices to electronically display any labels (including FCC ID, warning statements, or other information required by FCC rules). According to the Commission’s new adopted rule regarding Labeling Act, “to promulgate regulations or take other appropriate actions, as necessary, to allow manufacturers of radio frequency devices with display the option to use electronic labeling for the equipment in place of affixing physical labels to the equipment.”
Part 15: “The Commission decided to require that device users be provided with prominent and specific instructions on how to access the required labeling and regulatory information that be must be included with the device (packaging material, operating instruction booklet, etc.) ”
