THAILAND: New Standard Replaces Old Standard for Wireless Microphones

Back

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand have issued a new standard, NBTC TS 1006-2560, detailing criteria for frequency band usage for wireless microphones, concerning 803-806MHz, 694-703 MHz and 748-758 MHz bands.

This new standard NBTC TS 1006-2560 will replace standard NTC TS 006-2548 for wireless microphones and will have as main differences the change in the frequency bands permitted for wireless microphone devices. Once the new standard is implemented, the permitted frequency ranges will change from 794-806 MHz to 694-703 MHz, 748-758 MHz, and 803-806 MHz. Additional changes include amendments to the output power, frequency stability and radiated spurious emissions.

This standard will come into effect on June 1, 2018, but Type Approval certificates issued under the old standard for wireless microphones using 794-806MHz will still be valid until December 31, 2020. After the transition period, these Type Approval certificates will become invalid and manufacturers should apply for new Type Approval certificates under the new standard.

With the new regulation, wireless microphones using 794-806 MHz should be adjusted to 803-806MHz before December 31, 2020.
