On November 24, 2017, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand issued new technical standard No.1033-2560 to replace the previous standard, NBTC TS 1010-2550 for RFID Radio Communication Equipment.
In order to accommodate the growing need for IoT technology and frequency requirements, this standard will come into effect immediately. There is no change to the frequency band permitted for RFID in Thailand, which remains 920- 925MHz.
Previously, this band was open to RFID only but can now be used by non-RFID devices, for example LoRaWAN and other LPWAN technologies. The only change in the new standard is for the type approval classification for RFID devices with an output power inferior to 50mW.
