SOUTH KOREA: Act Revision of Enforcement Decree Regarding Resource Circulation of Electrical and Electronic and Vehicles

According to this new regulation, there is an increase in the number of electrical and electronic products that must comply with maximum levels of hazardous substances. The change went from 26 to 49 products when importing or manufacturing. This also included an increase in the number of substances considered hazardous, from 6 to 10.

Among the 23 new additional product names, the following are included:
– Video Game Consoles (not including handball game consoles)
-Wired and Wireless Routers
-Scanners (not including portable scanner)
– GPS Navigation Devices

The 4 new substances considered hazardous are:
-Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
-Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP)-
-Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
-Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)

The proposed date of entry into force is January 1rst, 2021 and the final date for comments is August 25th , 2020.
