SOUTH AFRICA: ICASA Opened to Comments for Equipment Type Approval Exemption Proposal

Back

On September 28, 2016, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) published on the Government Gazette a discussion document on “Equipment type approval exemption” inviting direct and indirect affected parties to submit their written representations on the discussion document to the authority. The purpose of this proposal is to ensure that the equipment that previously has been approved for use by European Telecommunications Standards Associations or other competent bodies and, that will be used under circumstances such as research and development, demonstrations of prototypes or testing, doesn’t have to be approved again in the country. The authority will receive comments until December 2, 2016.
