On May 12th, 2023, The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore, published their intent to allocate more radio frequency spectrum to facilitate advanced Wi-Fi connectivity in Singapore, through the allocation of 500 MHz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi use (i.e., 5,925 – 6,425 MHz)
IMDA is committed to meeting the increasing demand for bandwidth-intensive and low-latency use cases and enabling a seamless experience as end-users transition between the different connectivity options in Singapore.
The Agency expects to amend its Regulations to allocate the radio frequency spectrum 5,925 MHz – 6,425 MHz for Wi-Fi use in Singapore and for Wi-Fi 6E-enabled equipment and devices to be commercially available in Singapore by Q3 2023.
