Singapore: IMDA opens public consultation on Cellular Mobile Terminal Technical Standards

Back

Singapore’s Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) has released updates to its technical specifications for Cellular Mobile Terminals (CMT), effective in 2024. The key changes include updates to RF EMF safety standards, requiring compliance with IEC/EN 62209-1528 from October 2025. Additionally, CMT manufacturers must include Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) or power density information in user manuals.

The updated standards also introduce revised conformance testing checklists, impacting 5G VoLTE and RedCap device requirements. Companies should review these updates to ensure continued market access in Singapore.

Comments will be received until October 8th, 2024.

All views and comments should be submitted in soft copies (Microsoft Word or PDF Format) to Telecoms_Standards@imda.gov.sg by 12 noon of the closing date.

Please be informed that for public comment, while IMDA would not publish the respondent’s name and comment made, IMDA may respond to the respondent via email and/or seek further clarification on the comment, where needed.
