SINGAPORE: Cessation of Registration for Sale of Short Range Devices that Operate in the 450 – 470 MHz Frequency Band

Back

The IMDA issued on December 18, 2017 a notice stating that The 450 – 470 MHz frequency band has been allocated by the International Telecommunication Union for International Mobile Telecommunications (“IMT”) services and for that reason, the Short Range Devices (SRD) operating in that frequency band can no longer be Approved and existing Approvals can no longer be renewed.

The reason for this decision is to prevent potential radio frequency interference to SRD operating in the 450 -470 MHz frequency band by the IMT services, and vice versa. Equipment registration (new/renewal) for SRD operating in the 450 – 470 MHz frequency band will cease from January 1, 2018, and sale of such SRD shall cease by March 31, 2018.
