SERBIA: Serbia will launch 4G services in May

In an interview with Tanjug, as relayed by Telecompaper, the director of Serbia’s Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Postal Services (RATEL), Milan Jankovic, has confirmed that the country plans to launch 4G advanced mobile services in May this year. Jankovic is on record as saying that the agency intends to publish a tender for awarding licences in the 1710MHz-1785MHz and 1805MHz-1880MHz bands, with a view to announcing winners and awarding spectrum by 10 March 2015. The RATEL official added that the government has set a minimum EUR21 million (USD25.4 million) figure on the licences on offer. According to Jankovic, the telecommunications market in Serbia is currently worth around EUR1.6 billion per annum.
