The Korea Standards & Certification (KS) agency has launched a public consultation on proposed revisions to the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) standards for wireless communication devices used near the human body.
The consultation focuses on several key areas:
- Clearer Terminology: The KS aims to simplify the wording used in the standards to improve understanding for manufacturers, testers, and consumers.
- Unified SAR Standard: Currently, two separate standards exist: KS C 3370-1 for Head SAR and KS C 3370-2 for Body & Limb SAR. These are proposed to be merged into a single, unified standard for all SAR measurements (Head, Body, and Limb)
- Enhanced Testing Protocols: The revised standard will introduce stricter requirements for probe validation and specific phantom characteristics used in testing.
- Simplified Methods for Advanced Technologies: The Korea Radio Research Agency (RRA) will provide guidance on incorporating simplified testing methods for LTE, WLAN, and 3.5 GHz devices within the new KS C XXXX standard.
Public Participation Encouraged
