The president of the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel), Eduardo Neri Gonzalez, said yesterday that no later than next week, the call would be made public hearing to discuss aspects of the draft amendment of Law No. 642/95 Telecommunications.
“The main objective of this project is to update the regulatory framework of Act 642 to the current dynamics of telecommunications, considering that the current legislation is the year 1995, there was no talk or even internet. Today’s reality is that data traffic exceeded voice traffic, the same operators are licensed for different services, “he said.
He added that the idea is to analyze the market and the impact that may come later, because suddenly inadvertently, an operator has a very large market on the internet that affects the phone and even, on pay television. “It should be an analysis not only from a technical standpoint, but market,” he said.
DRAFT LAW. González explained that the draft bill amending the Telecommunications Act had several changes in recent analyzes that were made in the Conatel.
“In recent weeks that draft was polished, and what we get at the Public Hearing would be the latest version. It will also be available on our website so that anyone can come down and do an analysis of it, “he said.
González added that only after all requests for clarifications and modifications that may arise during the public hearing, either by operators and users in general, would be forwarded the final version of the bill to the executive branch, that analyze it and present it to Congress for consideration.
Broadcasting council. On criticism from certain quarters that Conatel since December has not convened another meeting of the Broadcasting Council, Gonzalez responded that the law does not stipulate a specific time that is required of him, but the parties are summoned according to the number of topics of analysis would.
