Papua New Guinea (NICTA) has approved the Band Plans for 700 MHz, 71 – 76GHz, 81 – 86 GHz, following a search to regulate the usage of spectrum in the country and the assignment of bands for the deployment of 4G LTE.
Two official documents have been published on Nov 25th, 2020. The first relating to the 700 MHz Plan – this plan relates to the spectrum between 698 – 806 MHz and the band is also planned to support IMT and IMT based mobile broadband applications.
The second relating to the channeling arrangement for fixed wireless systems operating in the 71-76GHz and 81-86GHz frequency range, also known as E-band. It also mentions information on technical characteristics of radio systems, frequency channeling, and minimization of interference.
The Band Plan is based on Article 5 of ITU Radio Regulations, provisions for region 3, and consequent PNG allocations as per updates of WRC-15.
