Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued new Type Approval Regulation that may come with many new changes.
Some key highlights from the new policy document to understand key changes are:
1. Newly Revised Application Form/Undertaking and Documentation required as part of Type Approval Application
2. Inclusion of RED Directive 2014/53/EU as part of acceptable test reports for equipment
3. Revision of Fee’s where IP Phones, Two Way Radios and PABX fees reduced from USD $500 to $100
4. Introduction of E-labelling for type approved product where PTA approved logo can be embedded into the device
5. Inclusion of Satellite Terminal Equipment within type approval category
6. Introduction of Certification of Compliance to Technical Standards (NOC) category for R&D import, Engineering Samples and Type Approval samples allowing import without type approval for up to 5 devices
7. Local testing of type approval sample where sample delivery to local lab is responsibility of applicant
8. Return of sample for a device whose manufacturing cost is more than USD 3000
9. Using of a local 3rd party services for submission of type approvals by companies residing outside Pakistan
10.Denial of case within 7 working days in case application is incomplete/missing documentation
