On August 1st, PTA published the Draft Regulation for Telecom Equipment’s Standards. In this regulation they specify the bodies’ standards that are applicable to the authority. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T)
- Directive 2014/53/EU for Radio Equipment Directive (RED)
- European Standards (EN)
- Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
- International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
In the notice, it is also mentioned the minimum technical standards for Telecommunication Equipment.
- Electromagnetic Compatibility Standards (EMC) – applicable for all Satellite, Terminal, Terrestrial, Telecom, and Wireless Equipment.
- Health & Safety – applicable for all Satellite, Terminal, Terrestrial, Telecom and Wireless Equipment
- Optical and laser – applicable for all Devices offering Laser and Optical functionality
- Radio Frequency (RF) Communication Standards – applicable to all Telecommunication Equipment using the required radio Frequency.
- Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Standards/ Human Exposure Standards – applicable for all Mobile Devices using the required radio Frequency.
- Satellite communication standards – applicable to all Telecommunication Equipment using satellite communication.
- Terminal Mobile Devices and Communication Standards- applicable to all Terminal Equipment which required radio Frequency.
- Terrestrial Devices Standards – applicable to all Terrestrial Equipment which required Radio Frequency
It is also worth noticing that there are additional requirements for these standards that are related to market surveillance.
