NEW ZEALAND: General User Radio License for Short Range/UWB Devices Notices Updated

On February 1, 2017, The Radium Spectrum Management (RSM) who is responsible for efficiently and effectively managing the radio spectrum in New Zealand updated two Notices that impacts short range and ultra-wide band devices. “The Radiocommunications Regulations (General User Radio License for Short Range Devices) Notice has been updated to expand a provision in the frequency range 315–430 kHz (previously 370–430 kHz) in order to allow additional wireless power charging devices to be used in New Zealand.” An additional Notice was updated and it includes a provision that allows for the deployment of UWB devices in an outdoor environment provided that emissions are generally limited to below the horizontal plane and within specific power spectral density limit in the frequency ranges 4.2–4.8 GHz and 6.0–6.8 GHz. The Gazette Notice will be available to be viewed on February 2, 2017.
