Nepal: NTA published a New Frequency Policy 2080

Back

Nepal Radio Frequency Policy Determination Committee approved the Radio Frequency Allocation and Pricing Policy 2080 in October.

The following are some highlights of this policy:

a. Additional 26 GHz band (24.25 to 27.50 GHz) has been allocated for 5G services. The minimum allocation would be 400MHz band in a block.

b. Allocation of 865 MHz to 868 MHz band for IoT/M2M operating in a non-cellular mode in a non-exclusive and non-protective shared basis.

c. Ultra Wide Band (UWB) is permitted on the condition that it will not create any interference to the existing telecom services and is allowed on a non-exclusive and non-protection basis in the 6.0 – 8.5 GHz frequency band for SRD applications. The Maximum Mean EIRP Spectral Density of -41.3 dBm/MHz and Peak EIRP of 0 dBm defined in 50 MHz is applicable for all UWB applications.

d. Another major update is the newly allowed 5.470 – 5.650 GHz band in the 5 GHz band as below:
5.150 – 5.350 GHz
5.470 – 5.650 GHz
5.725 – 5.825 GHz

The maximum allowed transmitter Output Power for this band is 1W (30 dBm) and the maximum Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) is 4W (36 dBm).
