Israel – MoC to Close 2G and 3G Networks by December 2025

Back

The Ministry of Communications has issued a reminder with respect to the closure of the cellular networks operating on 2nd and 3rd generation technologies, or as they refer to them: “the old technologies”. The initial decision was published in June 2021.

1- This decision aims to promote the modernization of the telecom infrastructure in Israel.

2- They have established that 2G and 3G “will stop receiving service at the time of the closing of the networks with these technologies at the end of 2025”

3- They urge the manufacturers with devices that incorporate this technology to make adjustments in time, before the closing date.

4- Questions on this change can be sent to the Director of the Engineering Department: Ms. Eti Shmueli: (shmuelie@moc.gov.il)
