On September 17, 2019, The Economy Secretary published the Official Mexican Standard NOM-001-SCFI-2018 which cancels the NOM-001-SCFI-1993 (Electronic devices, Electrical Safety Requirements, and Test Methods). The new NOM version was going to enter into force today, May 14th (240 days after its publication), but this morning, the Economy Secretary published an extension to its original date.
Now, the NOM-001-SCFI-2018 will enter into effect on August 14th, 2020. The certificates of conformity issued under the NOM-001-SCFI-1993 will be still valid until their expiration date. Also, those certified products under the previous NOM may be sold until the inventory is depleted.
