The Ministry of Economy, through the General Directorate of Standards, has published on August 23, the Supplement to the National Quality Infrastructure Program 2021. This document lists the current standards that may soon be modified. One of them is the NOM-001-SCFI-2018. With the objective of preserving the safety of users and consumers of electronic products and the protection of the integrity of their assets, it was identified that the content of the current NOM, in the field of application, exceptions, and Conformity Assessment, is ambiguous, this by virtue of the fact that consultations about the correct interpretation have been received. Also some Accredited and Approved Certification Bodies have expressed and requested their modification, due to inconsistencies in their content at the time of testing and issuing certificates of conformity. So, the objective is to give clarity in the interpretation and Evaluation of the Conformity of the products in their scope.
For this reason, the document proposes a modification to this NOM and includes a schedule of activities that shows, among others, that until August 2021 the proposal of modification to the NOM needs to be elaborated. From September a working group will be created to study the modification proposal, and that by November it will be carried out into public consultation. You can see more details in the attached pdf.
Entirety will be attentive when they publish the draft to modify the NOM-001-SCFI-2018.
