On June 23th 2023, IFT released the Public Consultation Preliminary Project, related to the Technical Disposition IFT-011-2022 part 3, for the Cellular Broadcast System for Emergency Alerts.
The main objective of the Preliminary Project consists of adapting the technical specifications, as well as the test methods in it.
The changes subject to consultation right now are related to:
- Item 4.2. Alternate test method without using MMI commands, but through configuration menu, able to enable and active the Alert Message test channels in Spanish, offering additionally, another qualification and activation of these channels, related with the existing IPAWS system (EUA) and which also would be considered that mobile equipment with operating systems that already include the button functionality configuration integrated into its menu.
- Another important discussion is with regard to the proposed amendment of the requirements for visual verification of the functionality of the copying of the content of the Alert Message, the test method is to be made more flexible by removing the restriction of the copying of the content of the Alert Messages, through this particular functionality.
The Public Consultation is available for comments and suggestions from June 23rd until July 6th, using the available formats and through an e-mail sent to info.upr@ift.org.mx.
