Following the Telecommunications and Broadcasting Federal Law (LFTR), the IFT developed the technical disposition IFT-008-2015 in order to replace the current NOM-121, which will lose validity on October 19th. The draft of this technical disposition was submitted to public consultation; the final project reflects interest to continue allowing the importation of products subject to the NOM-121, harmonize methods with the United States and Canada equivalents, and create a regulatory framework according to the LFTR.
Relevant modifications:
– The current certificates will keep their validity until the specified end date not being subject to maintenance. These certificates cannot be extended or used by equipment of the same family.
– Certificates issued from October 20th, 2015 for the following 6 months will be subject to the DT IFT-008-2015 + transitory and will have a 1 year validity, not subject to maintenance. Test laboratories and certification organisms can issue certificates under accreditation and approval of the NOM-121.
– During the period from October 20th through the following 6 months, test laboratories and certification organizations that have the conditions for the conformity evaluation under the DT IFT-008-2015, can still perform it.
– After the period between October 20th and the following 6 months, all the test laboratories and certification organizations will have to implement the DT IFT-008-2015 conditions.
– In the compliance assessment, the certificate update is still valid and a monitoring concept will be included in the technical disposition.
– Regarding the labeling, the homologated equipment will have to exhibit the homologation certificate number, the brand and the model on each unit.
– The user’s manual will have to include information in Spanish.
– For the 902-928 MHz band with a BW @20 db > 250 KHz (maximum allowed of 500 KHz) the hopping channels number should be ≥ 50.
