MEXICO: Official Standard NOM-032-ENER-2013: “Maximum electrical power limits for equipment and appliances requiring standby power. Test methods and labelling”

On 27 February 2014, the Mexican Ministry of Energy published in the Official Journal (Diario Oficial de la Federación) (http://www.dof.gob.mx) Mexican Official Standard NOM-032-ENER-2013: “Maximum electrical power limits for equipment and appliances requiring standby power”.

Mexican Official Standard NOM-032-ENER-2013 will enter into force 240 calendar days after its publication in the Official Journal and, as from that date, all equipment and appliances requiring standby power that are covered by NOM-032-ENER-2013 must be certified on the basis of this Standard. Verification of compliance with the requirements set out in Chapter 9 (“Labelling”) will commence 90 calendar days following the entry into force of the Standard.

Products covered by Mexican Official Standard NOM-032-ENER-2013 which enter Mexico legally or are in transit (as evidenced by the corresponding bill of landing) prior to the date of entry into force of this Standard may be marketed until stocks are exhausted, without being required to demonstrate compliance with the Standard.
