The Mexican governments’ Secretary of Commerce published in the Official Gazette, an updated Agreement through which the Ministry of Economy issues General Rules and Criteria regarding Foreign Trade.
Some customs tariff classification were included to mandate that the Importers of the goods listed in this Agreement, must be attached to the import request, at the time of its introduction to the national territory, original or a simple copy of the NOM certificate with the purpose of demonstrating compliance.
Therefore, this Agreement includes some NOM standards for which now will be requested for verification at the entry point. For instance, radio communication systems using the spread spectrum technique, Frequency hopping, and digital modulation, operating in the bands 902 MHz-928 MHz, 2400 MHz-2483.5 MHz and 5725 MHz-5850 MHz which are under the NOM-208-SCFI-2016.
In conclusion, previously, Customs was not requesting the NOM-208 Certificate, but with this Agreement, they will start requesting this certificate starting today, October 24, 2018.
