Back

The “Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones” (IFT) this past wednesday, has published the technical dispositions about the terminal devices connection to the public telecommunications network. This new technical disposition ( IFT-004-2014) called “Interfaz a redes públicas para equipos terminales” – Public network interfaces for terminal devices – has been defined by the institute as the replacement rule for the NOM-151-SCT1-1999, that will expire on January 19th, 2015.

This new rule does not generate additional obligations to the regulated entities, neither restricts none of their rights. Even more, the substantive content of the initial NOM remains without changes. This new disposition will come into force this January 19th, 2015 and will be valid for 12 months. It establishes the electrical and mechanical conditions, as well as the testing methods and technical parameters, that the terminal devices ,intended to be connected thought a wired access to a public telecommunications network must meet.
