MEXICO: IFT Approves 2020 Annual Work Program

The AWP 2020 establishes the Institute’s actions to fulfill its constitutional mandate and face the new challenges of digital transformation; In addition to continuing compliance with current regulations. The IFT portfolio for the year 2020 is made up of 27 projects, 3 of which are of the transversal axis of institutional strengthening and 24 are aligned with the institutional objectives, which are: to promote and encourage users and audiences to have better service options public at affordable prices, through the promotion of competition and free participation of regulated sectors; conditions for universal access to telecommunications and broadcasting technologies and services in order to maximize social welfare; as well as guarantee that the services that the population receives care in accordance with the quality levels, under international parameters; and promote respect for the rights of end-users and audiences in telecommunications and broadcasting services.

This year the IFT-10 tender is contemplated, in which spectrum will be made available for broadband and mobile telephony, which will allow expanding the coverage and capacity of these services, as well as providing them with higher data transfer speeds.
