MEXICO: Easiness on Goods Importation Without NOM Certificate (SE No. 414.2020.827)

Back

On March 26, the official letter 414.2020.827 was issued by the Secretary of the Economy, providing easiness for imports subject to compliance with NOMs.

As of March 27, 2020, the goods can be imported providing just the certification request submitted to the Certification Bodies (CB) or Verification Units (UV), for which, they must issue the acknowledgment of receipt with the corresponding folio or reference number, the same that the importer must declare in the petition.

In the event that the product does not obtain the certificate of conformity or compliance report from the Certification Body or Verification Unit, it will not be able to continue importing with the provided folio or reference number; without prejudice to the authorities taking measures or issuing sanctions. This should be indicated by the CB or UV as soon as they detect the suspension or cancellation of the product certification process, to carry out the corresponding immediate withdrawal.
