New Mexico Telecom Regulator: CRT

As of October 17, 2025, Mexico officially ended operations of the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). The Comisión Reguladora de Telecomunicaciones (CRT) has now taken over all responsibilities for regulating the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors. This structural change comes under the 2025 Telecommunications and Broadcasting Law, which redefines federal oversight of the country’s digital infrastructure.

With the appointment of Norma Solano Rodríguez as President Commissioner, the CRT has assumed full control over regulatory frameworks, institutional assets, and legal obligations. As a result, the CRT is now the sole authority managing telecom and broadcasting regulation in Mexico.

This approach allows for a smoother transition while CRT prepares its own regulatory framework over the next 12 months.
