The Mexican Economy Secretariat (SE), published on COFEMER’s website on May 2016 the PROY-NOM-019-SCFI-2016 “Information technologies equipments and associated equipment, as well as office equipment – security requirements”. It is available for comments and soon it will be part of a public consultation. Once this NOM becomes official, published in the oficial diary, it will replace the NOM-016-SCFI-1993 and the NOM-019-SCFI-1998. This NOM will be applicable to Information Technology equipment and associated devices, as well as office use devices with single-phase supply voltages of 100 Vac to 277 Vac 60 Hz and / or three-phase voltages of 173 Vac to 480 Vac between 60 Hz lines to operate up to 3,000 meters above the sea level. It is also important to note that in the NOM-019-SCFI-2016, the annex 2.4.1 of the NOM’s (Applicable NOMs according to the tariff code) is not applicable to importers of equipments, systems, parts and components under this NOM when these are not subject to direct marketing, or posterior sell to the general public but business users or institutions that install, operate and update the equipment, systems, parts and components directly or in responsibility with the supplier.
