On May 9, 2017, The Federal Institute of Telecommunication (IFT) classified the 57-64 GHz frequency band as free spectrum. “The telecommunication industry is in constant innovation, which allows the users to access more and better services; it is thus that the use of the spectrum becomes determinant in the development of the technology and it is necessary to carry out an adequate administration of this finite resource.”
General Restrictions include:
Operating in the 57-64 GHz frequency band for the following is not permitted:
- Equipment or devices used in aircraft or satellites.
- Field disturbance sensors, this includes vehicle radar systems, except for sensors use for fixed operation, includes field disturbance sensors installed in fixed equipment (even when sensor is moved within the equipment) or short range devices for detection of interactive movement.
- Power density of any emission shall consist only of non-essential emissions.
- Non-essential emission levels should not exceed the level of the fundamental emission.
- Frequency band may not be used for the operation of radio links that cross the country borders.
