SDPPI has released a draft for public consultation about the technical requirements for tools and/or devices connected to the electricity grid infrastructure for the purpose of data transfer and telecommunications in the home as telecommunications media.
Some of the specifications this draft includes are:
- General requirements, which consist of power supply, EMC requirements and electrical safety requirements; and
- Interoperability Requirements, which consist of requirements related to:
- Operating frequency: 1.605 MHz up to 30 MHz;
- OFDM modulation;
- Maximum frequency accuracy of 174 ppm;
- Power Spectral Density (ITU-T Rec. G.9964)
- Maximum transmit signal levels (EN 50561-1)
- Radiated emissions; and
- restricted radio frequencies for the use of In Home PLCs.
