The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has published the open Public Consultation on the New Communications Equipment Framework on May 20th, 2024.
The new framework proposes 3 different schemes depending on the level of risk of the devices to be certified (Low, medium and high). One of the main changes would be the implementation of certification through SDoC (for low and medium risk), as well as the management of special cases of non-commercial units.
MCMC is looking to ease the compliance process after an assessment of the status of the region and opportunities to improve the current framework. The expected timeline of implementation is two years, that is in 2026.
