Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has published Malaysia Class Assignment No. 2 of 2025, introducing important regulatory changes for wireless communication devices. Taking effect on 24 June 2025, this update notably adds the International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) private network wireless access device to the framework. New Device Category: IMT Private Network Access
The most significant addition in Malaysia Class Assignment No. 2 is the inclusion of the IMT private network wireless access device, listed under the Thirty-First Schedule. This allows for localized private 5G networks to operate under the class assignment regime, enhancing enterprise and industrial connectivity.
Enforcement Date
This latest Assignment replaces the previous Class Assignment No. 1 of 2025 and comes into force on 24 June 2025.

All devices under this assignment must comply with existing general requirements, including:

Technical Details for IMT Private Devices
The newly added IMT private network wireless access devices may operate only within IMT frequency bands assigned via apparatus assignment. These devices are permitted shared, non-exclusive spectrum use and must communicate exclusively with authorized IMT radio base stations.
