JAPAN: MIC Issues Amendment for Radio-Communication Law Modifying Rules for Wireless Devices

Entirety reports on February 13, 2019, The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications issued an amendment for the Radio-communications law No. 131 that modifies the applicable rules for wireless devices to be used near the human body.

The reason for the amendment is to allow the use of wireless devices in frequencies above the 6GHz to be used near the body establishing a limit exposure value to incident power density of radio communication systems in accordance to the “Guidelines for limiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields (100 KHz to 300 GHz)” issued in July 2018, and technical report CEI 63170 Ed. 1.0 “Measurement procedure for the evaluation of power density related to human exposure to radio frequency fields from wireless communication devices operating between 6 GHz and 100 GHz” issued in August 2018.

Final date to receive comments is March 2nd, 2019 and is scheduled to enter into force on April 2019.
