Indonesia: SDPPI Opens Public Consultation on Wireless Power Transmission; New Frequency Allocations Proposed

Back

Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital is currently developing new regulations for Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) technology, which will revoke the existing standards for WPT outlined in the KEPMEN KOMINFO No. 260 Tahun 2024

The proposed changes are designed to accommodate technological advancements and improve the efficiency of WPT by expanding and specifically allocating frequency bands for this technology.

The public consultation draft introduces new frequency allocations for WPT, including: 100–119 kHz, 119–135 kHz, 135–140 kHz, 140–148.5 kHz, 315–405 kHz, 1700–1800 kHz, 6765–6795 kHz, and 13.553–13.567 MHz.

Previously, these frequencies were either part of a general WPT category or not specifically listed for WPT in the 2024 regulation.  The new allocations also aim to align with recommendations from the International Telecommunication Union.

Stakeholders, including manufacturers and testing facilities, are invited to provide feedback on the draft regulation by December 22nd, 2024.

This represents a significant shift towards more detailed and specific regulations for WPT in Indonesia.
