Indonesia: SDPPI published new Regulation for LTE and 5G NR

Back

The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (SDPPI) has issued new regulation “KEPMEN KOMINFO No. 352 Tahun 2024,” updating the technical standards for LTE and 5G NR (New Radio).

This regulation defines two primary frequency ranges for 5G NR: Frequency Range 1 (FR1) from 410 MHz to 7125 MHz, and Frequency Range 2 (FR2) from 24250 MHz to 52600 MHz, incorporating both sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands.

Significant updates include detailed Carrier Aggregation (CA) and Dual Connectivity (DC) modes.

The regulation also introduces new technologies essential for 5G deployment, including Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) for IoT applications, advanced modulation techniques like QAM and QPSK, and Massive MIMO to boost data throughput and spectrum efficiency.

Compliance with these updated standards is critical for stakeholders in the telecom sector to ensure alignment with the latest technological advancements and market requirements.
