The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is taking steps to establish Technical Standards for Telecommunication Equipment and Mobile Telecommunication Equipment based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) and International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) Technology Standards in Indonesia. They are initiating the process in accordance with the Law Number 30 of 2014 regarding Government Administration. To engage stakeholders in this process, they are sharing the Draft Decree of the Minister of Communication and Information, which will serve as a reference for testing such equipment in the country.
This draft decree aims to regulate various aspects, including technical standards for subscriber stations, base stations, and repeaters based on LTE technology standards. It also covers technical standards for equipment based on the IMT-2020 technology standards in different frequency ranges. Additionally, the decree will mandate that telecommunications equipment have a unique International Mobile Equipment Identity number and meet a domestic component level of at least 35%.
The Ministry is actively seeking input from stakeholders, such as telecommunications equipment vendors, testing laboratories, academics, and the general public. Inputs will be received until October 1st, 2023 and must be submitted to the following emails:
