Indonesia: Public Consultation Updated Telecom Standards – What LTE and IMT-2020 Manufacturers Need to Know

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in Indonesia has introduced a draft decree that updates the technical standards for international mobile telecommunication equipment and devices under class permits. These changes, which affect LTE and IMT-2020 devices, include new compliance requirements for electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and radio frequency. The decree will impact telecom infrastructure, mobile devices, and IoT equipment in the Indonesian market.

A public consultation is open until December 2, 2024, giving stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback. The final decree will come into effect six months after its issuance, expected around mid-2025. Manufacturers and importers must review their product certification processes and ensure alignment with the new testing methods for safety and EMC.
