INDIA: Inclusion of Exemptions for India’s BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS)

In India, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has published a document indicating you can apply for exemption for some products to be certified by BIS under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) under certain conditions/circumstances.

Exemptions are as follow:

 -Imported for Export Purpose
-Imported for personal use
-Imported for use in explosive atmosphere Ex. mining, petrol pumps, etc.
-Imported for use by State Government /Central Government Agencies
-Imported for use in manufacturing as an integrated part of the end product not notified under CRO ex: Medical Equipment.

Exemptions for CRS goes into effect starting the date this publication was published.
