On August 8th 2016, the Ministry of Communications of India, through its Department of Telecommunications (DoT), released for the public a Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for an Auction of Spectrum in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz Bands. The objectives of the auction are to ensure the efficient use of spectrum and avoid hoarding, stimulate the competition, promote rollout of the respective services and maximize revenue proceeds from the auction within the set parameters.
