INDIA: DoT Postpones Deadline for Testing Telecom Equipment

Back

Entirety reports on January 17, 2019, The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) on behalf of DoT (Department of Telecommunications) issued a notification for Mandatory Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) for all import or sales after January 1, 2019.

This week the DoT has once again delayed this decision with no date for entry into force. Experts in the field state this is due to the lack of infrastructure (laboratories and capable personnel) to perform these activities. It is worth remembering that devices that are required to test include but not limited to modems, audio-conferencing equipment, Wi-Fi access points, and radio transmitter devices.
