INDIA: Bureau Of Indian Standards (BIS) Just Announced The Discontinuation Of The Tatkal Scheme

Back

The “TATKAL LICENSING SCHEME¨ has been the fast track process for BIS registration and was implemented in 2014 to avoid delay in the process of GOL in case of products under Mandatory Certification. Under this scheme, the time norms for GOL had been clearly specified and a total time for GOL was specified as 30 days maximum plus reduced testing time. The applications recorded under ‘TATKAL LICENSING SCHEME’ had priority in comparison to the other applications.

Now, this scheme has been discontinued. The main reason is most likely due to heavy workload for BIS. BIS registration is expected to take longer time than normal in the coming months. See the official notification in the attached pdf, or the link: http://www.bis.org.in/cert/TATKAL.pdf
