BIS informed on March of 2019 there is a final depletion date for Secondary Battery Standards (nickel and also lithium batteries).
• IS 16046 (Part 1): 2018/ IEC 62133-1: 2017 – Nickel System
• IS 16046 (Part 2): 2018/ IEC 62133-2:2017 – Lithium Systems
It will be important to keep in mind that by March 14th of 2020, the IS 16046:2015/ IEC 62133:2012 will be withdrawn leaving only the above-mentioned standards to be used in compliance processes for “rechargeable” batteries.
