The Bureau of Indian Standards (BiS) introduced guidelines for revised IS 616:2010/IE / 60065:2014 superseding IS 616:2010/IEC 60065:2005 for audio, video and similar electronics.

1. IS 616:2010/IEC 60065:2005 is revised as IS 616:2017/IEC 60065:2014.
2. Concurrent running of IS 616:2010/IEC 60065:2005 and IS 616:2017/IEC
60065:2014 is permitted until June 27th, 2018 and IS 616:2010/IEC
60065:2005 will be cancelled after June 27th, 2018.
3. All registered manufacturers will be required to change over to IS
616:2017/IEC 60065:2014 on/before June 27th, 2018 by submitting
amendment test report for all the base models covered in the scope of
registration from any BIS approved lab.
